If Cardinal Lemuen were still around, she'd probably smite me for that. [ pfft. ] But no, I promise this looks worse than it actually is. If nothing else, I suspect it falls within the scope of what healing abilities should still be able to cover.

[ But with that, the conversation dies down. The unaddressed topics come to mind, and Elysium finds himself folding his hands into themselves, trying to breathe warmth back into them by bringing them up to his mouth. As casual as he may seem, the worry lingers in his brows. ]

You were pretty brave earlier, and yet you gave the other two more credit for your expedition. Aren't you humble? I'm sure all three of you pulled your weight, even if you might've taken a detour. Heheh.

[Edamura takes the companionable silence as an opportunity to strip out of his sopping clothing (he leaves on his underwear, though) and change into the proffered hospital gown. with his back to Elysium, the flush that cascades across his cheeks at the mention of his. . . "detour". . . is properly hidden]

I'm not— [a grump!] — what I said happened back at the castle was true. I wasn't downplaying my own part in things.

This time was just. . [he trails off, hunching his shoulders, busying himself with the gown's strings] What was I gonna do, just watch? It was Hien.

[spoken as if that is reason enough. which it is]

"It was Hien." Wow. I think those are the most powerful words I've heard today.

[ He glances over his shoulder, mouth pulled into a grin. ]

Are you going to be waiting, then? For him to show up in the river?

"Powerful?" [a scoff] It's just the truth! He's my friend.

[adjusting his gown over his shoulders before he glances down the river. a sharp exhale]

. . . I'd like to. But I don't want to crowd him.

[what if Hien wants time alone?]

How about you practice what you preach? You're the one who told me not to make decisions for other people. If he needs time alone, he's a big enough boy to tell you that, I'm sure.

[and then Hien swims away. not that he sees it but he will probably wait until everyone clears out before realizing that is what happened]

[ Scruffs Edamura's hair on the way out. ]

[for a moment he just stands there, completely stunned, watching open mouthed as Elysium bounces. his hair is now standing up in all sorts of different directions. it look very silly]
